Kusamakura

Kusamakura (草枕 lit. "grass pillow") is a standard phrase used in Japanese poetry to signify a journey. This piece of the same name was inspired by the mention in the book, In Praise of Shadows, which relates the grass pillow to the writings of the novelist Natsume Sōsek.

Kusamakura was made for an open call by POPIN Yarn was planted in sections of the fabric to imitate grass, and then placed in the wooden hoop provided. It took about 15 hours to complete.
