New World: Site inspection

It scares me when someone tells me he wants to throw away/destroy an artwork, as for me, it would mean huge amount of time and effort going down the drain, or a failure of appreciation of and artistic creation.

Alvin called me up yesterday to check out one of their silkscreen pieces that is to be destroyed, to see if the misprint can be resolved through another round of screen printing.

We arrived at Art Seasons Gallery in Kaki Bukit Road 1, and were brought to this area with the silkscreened artworks layed on the floor. These are the better ones (but still rejected). The ones intended for correction have already been stretched.

This scares me... :(

The problem was that the artwork that was produced two years back, had an inverted screen for the third part of the triptych. As you can see here, details of the bike are not printed. It's missing white hightlights in many areas, and the linework that defines it, is not in place. (this is only one subject of the many that needs to be corrected from the whole entire piece. produced in China lah, what to do...)

It's scary how I'm taking up this job even though he keeps consoling me that the artwork will be discarded anyway, so any form of repair will only make it better, and not worse. Oh dear, with responsibility comes a certain level of stress...
