I made a couple of gifts today, reusing old illustration material. I sneaked them onto their tables/bags while they were engaged in a Parents-Teacher meeting before I left.

My Thursdays are usually quite free if there are no relief duties. I report to work at 7.30am to attend a talk for teachers regarding Catholic Teachings in Sex Education, followed by assembly at 8.45am as school starts late on Thursdays at 9am. The only scheduled lesson i went for started at 12.55pm. With time to spare, I completed the proposal packages! : )

I'm really glad too, because I was able to add my illustrations to the envelopes at last!
I always try put others before self the best I can, a value that I have stuck to after joining the Brownies when I was 8 years old.

These handmade journals with original illustrations are finally bound and ready for sale along with other handmade items! (did i say handmade in one sentence twice? of course i did!)

POPIN: i've joined in the fun!

POPIN is a group of artists, designers and creative individuals, who enjoy working with their hands, using methods and materials traditionally associated with craft. Based in Singapore, the group meets on an ad hoc basis to spend some time together to make work in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Through sharing ideas, knowledge and imagination, the group celebrates the joy of 'making' and aims to bring its fascination with the handmade to the contemporary art scene. The group also aims to spread its passion to the wider public through creative workshops, community projects, collaborative art shows and other exciting creative events.

faculty. I really love what she is doing. Never done hand/machine embroidery before and would really love
to learn all these wonderful techniques! : )

got an elongated pedestal and Emily suggested for me to cover the top surface with one of my full length hand
printed fabrics. loved the idea, so ironed it then stuck double sided tape at the edges to secure the sides down.

It was a good day of screen-printing. I have to thank Emily and Maria for allowing me access to the textiles workshop. If not for their assistance, I would have never been able to produce my own photo-silkscreen, and an opportunity for its prints to emerge on fabric (my first time!!) .


i'm starting to accept that i cannot help the imperfections that turned up during printing. hence, i'm not feeling that stressed at all. : )

the screen had problems again, while coating in the morning, the emulsion was very jelly-like with clumps of thick,hardened portions. had to deal with it.

here's the tiled width , one out of the
full length of 3m of brown polyester i got
the parts that didn't show up/are too
dark was due to the fact the the long
squeegee i usedhas been worn out at
the sides and hence,was unable to evenly
push ink through the screenprint's edge.

anyway, even though i'm disappointed, a positive consolation is that i was able to tile only width wise. also, ive decided to create fabric journals as the final pieces so i'll just use the good parts.

i didn't check my screen, didn't realise that
the coating was uneven, leading to this. . .
more of the right portion had too much ink
throughbecause the emulsion layer was too thin
as compared to the other areas zzzzzzzzz......

only the left part works for now
where printing is concerned.

my intention of printing a full 3m length of fabric for display in the surface design show cannot be done, unless i redo my screen again, and hope that it will work out. : ( that'll have to wait... till wednesday.

bought these beautiful polyester and cotton fabrics to print on. got them at $2 per metre for polyester and calico(6m), and 3m at $3 per metre for cotton.

washed and coated screen at 11am, got my digital print done at 1.30pm on tracing paper(A0=$10 at NAFA's printing shop) before heading back to have my screen exposed at 3pm.

they've installed new yellow lights at the washing
area, which really helps in preventing over washing
at the unexposed areas on the screen. :)
